Steven J. Boone

Mr. Boone founded Buckeye Community Hope Foundation as a 501 (3) (c) not-for-profit corporation and continued to be a very hands-on developer and manager of affordable housing with RLJ Management, taking majority ownership in 1989. Mr. Boone is active in industry affiliations that serve managers, developers and owners. Mr. Boone’s career began at General Electric Company where he gained invaluable experience in financial analysis and asset management. Mr. Boone graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Business Administration.

Phil Lechner

Mr. Lechner joined Buckeye Community Hope Foundation in 2011. Mr. Lechner brought more than 30 years of accounting and auditing experience in the construction, affordable housing, non-profit organizations and real estate fields. Mr. Lechner’s experience benefits BCHF and its related companies providing a high level of accounting knowledge to improve and upgrade the accounting, reporting and funding draw processes. Mr. Lechner has demonstrated expertise with cost certification audits, including LIHTC, HUD and USDA RD-financed multi-family housing projects, as well as not-for profit financial reporting and analysis, and consulting services related to multi-family development from the perspective of developers and tax planning for investors and high net worth individuals. Mr. Lechner received a B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) from Wittenberg University. Mr. Lechner’s professional licenses and memberships include: Certified Public Accountant – Ohio, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ian Maute

Mr. Maute has been involved in the development of housing using the LIHTC, USDA Rural Development, and HUD funding programs since 2005. He is an expert in both new construction projects and the acquisition and rehabilitation of existing affordable housing properties. As Director of Development for BCHF, Mr. Maute is responsible for all development activities across the organization’s footprint. Mr. Maute is the former President of the Ohio Housing Council Board of Trustees, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Council for Affordable and Rural Housing, and is the Vice President of the Board of Directors for the national Council for Affordable and Rural Housing. Mr. Maute received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Masters of Business Administration from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.

Tim Swiney

Tim is a highly experienced and accomplished development leader, having served in a variety of integral roles throughout his 20-year career of affordable housing development. In joining Buckeye Community Hope Foundation, Tim brings with him a depth of experience working with many different LIHTC professionals including funding agencies, syndicators, lenders, bond professionals, and other industry leaders. Throughout his 20-year career, Tim has directly managed and participated in the successful execution of more than $1 Billion in LIHTC financing towards the production and preservation of affordable housing communities across the Country.

Steve Sceranka

Steve Sceranka joined Buckeye Community Hope Foundation in June 2020. Mr. Sceranka has been involved in real estate development and construction for over 25 years. Completed projects include single tenant commercial buildings, multi-story hotels, distribution warehousing, residential sub-divisions and multi-family apartments. Mr. Sceranka specializes in site selection and new construction projects. Mr. Sceranka is a licensed real estate broker in Ohio, South Carolina and North Carolina and earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Phoenix.

Brenda Jacques

Ms. Jacques joined Buckeye Community Hope Foundation (BCHF) in June 2014. Ms. Jacques comes to us with over 15 years of experience in affordable housing including LIHTC, HOME, ARRA, NSP and HUD financing and the closing of all real estate transactions. Ms. Jacques previous experience with Miller-Valentine Group included supervising her staff where she was a key member of the development team and directed the compliance group’s participation in submitting LIHTC applications in 14 states. Ms. Jacques succeeded in creating several processes to streamline the tracking of purchase agreements, deadlines, escrow deposits and title. Ms. Jacques maintained the data base for all project related documents including the Reservation Agreements, Carryover Agreements and Restrictive Covenant Agreements where she tracked all deadlines making sure the information contained within the documents was correct and timely. Ms. Jacques received her degree in Paralegal Studies in 1999.

Dylan Collner

Mr. Collner has been with Buckeye Community Hope Foundation since 2008. Mr. Collner primarily works on the development of new applications for funding using 9% tax credits, HOME, Housing Trust Fund, USDA programs, HUD programs, ARRA and NSP funding. From application packaging to debt and equity closing through construction completion and lease up Mr. Collner works with a project from start to finish. Mr. Collner also assists with the in house information technology for the home office and regional sites.

Zachary Crafton

Mr. Crafton joined Buckeye Community Hope Foundation (BCHF) in 2015. Mr. Crafton’s day-to-day tasks include developing and managing 15-year proformas, assisting with LIHTC and other funding applications, compiling due diligence for closings, tracking construction period financing, and assisting in the closeout of development projects. Before joining the team, Mr. Crafton served as a Senior Research Associate with Community Research Partners, where he developed and managed research projects from inception to completion, including the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan for both the City of Columbus and Franklin County. Prior to this, Mr. Crafton worked as a Project Manager at the Housing Research and Advocacy Center where he oversaw the Cleveland Region’s participation in HUD’s Housing Discrimination against Racial and Ethnic Minorities 2012 study. Mr. Crafton has a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Geography from the University of Toronto.
