Supporting Residents. Strengthening Communities.
At Buckeye Community Hope Foundation, we believe affordable housing is about more than providing a safe, stable place to live. It is about creating communities where seniors, families, and individuals with disabilities can thrive, maintain their independence, and access the resources they need.
Through our Support Services program, trained on-site Service Coordinators connect residents living in HUD and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) communities with valuable resources and services. From Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid assistance to transportation, after-school care, job training, counseling, and other community resources, our Service Coordinators help residents navigate available services and find the support they need.
Service Coordinators also develop on-site programs, educational presentations, and activities designed to meet the needs of each community. By bringing resources directly to residents, we help promote stability, independence, and a stronger sense of community.
Benefits for Residents, Owners & Management
Support Services benefit more than residents. By addressing challenges early and connecting residents with appropriate resources, our program can help reduce evictions and unnecessary move-outs, address housekeeping concerns, and reduce vacancy-related costs.
For owners and management, Support Services can:
- Improve marketability and visibility by creating a supportive, connected community.
- Protect the owner’s investment by promoting resident stability and retention.
- Support property management by allowing management teams to focus on their core responsibilities while Service Coordinators address residents’ social service needs.
- Strengthen resident stability by helping residents access the resources and assistance they need to remain successful in their homes.
Through on-site support and community connections, BCHF helps create housing environments where residents feel supported, connected, and empowered to live independently.

What A Service Coordinator Cannot Do
Management Related Duties.
Service Coordination is different from management, and residents are re-directed to management when dealing with a site issue.
Direct Care.
Residents are routinely referred to agencies that can provide direct care, such as transportation, home cleaning, medical services, etc. However, Service Coordinators themselves cannot provide direct care.
Activities.
While there may be some social outreach as part of the Service Coordination program, activities and entertainment are not the primary objective.
We now have support services in 86 of our buildings throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Illinois and Pennsylvania. We have developed a hybrid model of support services in which we provide specialized services that best fits the community. We have 31 Service Coordinators who serve 51 sites. We also have five Service Coordinators on call as needed, as well as twenty Quick Benefits Check-Up coordinators, (QBC Coordinators) where the property manager is trained to check potential benefits for residents and eight sites with agencies that provide support services in properties.
